Saturday's Class:

Creating the Birth Environment that is Right for you.

There are a lot of labour and birth books to read and a great deal of information to absorb but how do you know which technique, which theory is right for you.  This class will break it all down for you.  We are all different, unique individuals and what works for one person may not work for you.  You will leave this half day class with a clear understanding of how creating the "right birth environment" that is unique to you is an important key to how you eventually give birth.

Topics discussed will be:

-the effects of fear and anxiety on the physiology of labour

-Physical and mental preparation for childbirth, learning different techniques for relaxation and discovering which one works for you.

-the stages of labour and different ways of coping with those stages

-understanding that labour is different and unique to each individual

-comfort measures and techniques for your labour support team

-understanding the vital role that labour support provides

-when labour does not go how we'd hope or planned and how to turn that into an amazing birth story

Sunday's Class:

Postpartum, Breastfeeding and Newborns

As newly pregnant parents we often spend an enormous amount of time shopping for the new baby, decorating the nursery and reading tons about what to expect while pregnant.  But what about baby?  What is life like with a newborn?  This class will cover all you need to know about newborns and breastfeeding and how to prepare for bringing a newborn into your life and relationship.

Topics discussed will be:

-preparing for life with a newborn

-newborn emotional and physical needs and behaviour

-newborn brain development

-importance of sleep and how to get sleep with a newborn

-breastfeeding challenges and how to avoid common pit falls
